Outgoing BWF President, Dr. Kang Young Joong congratulating newly elected President Poul-Erik Hoyer
On Saturday, members of the worldwide Badminton family elected a new President, Poul-Erik Hoyer of Denmark. Hoyer, who was the Men's Singles Gold medalist in 1996 defeated Dr. Justian Suhandinata of Indonesia during the 74th Annual General
Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Hoyer polled 145 votes, while Suhandinata received 120 with 1 sploilt vote.
Peruvian Gustavo Salazar Delgado, Hoyer's running mate, defeated the incumbent Deputy President, Paisan Rangsikitpho to become the new Deputy President for the period 2013-2017, when he amassed 148 votes to Rangsikitpho's 118.
The Barbados Badminton Association's Executive and members congratulate both gentlemen on their respective wins and look forward to moving the sport of badminton forward.
